Models for home backup

IQ Battery 10C

Usable energy10.0 kWh
Continuous power7.08 kVA at 240 VAC
Peak or surge56 A for 3 s and 44.8 A for 10 s at 240 VAC (Enphase marketing cites 14.16 kVA peak)
Largest systemnot stated on the 10C datasheet
Whole or partial homeBoth. Enphase says the IQ Meter Collar with IQ Combiner 6C enables full home backup, and partial-home backup is also supported
Battery chemistryLFP, with built-in neutral-forming microinverters

IQ Battery 5P

Usable energy5.0 kWh
Continuous power3.84 kVA
Peak or surge7.68 kVA for 3 s; 6.14 kVA for 10 s
Largest systemUp to 16 units per system (about 80 kWh) with IQ System Controller 3; 40 kWh per battery port on IQ System Controller 3G
Whole or partial homeBoth. Whole-home backup if storage is sized to meet NEC 710.15(A), with load control advised. Partial-home through a backup load panel
Battery chemistryLFP

IQ System Controller 3 / 3G (transfer switch / microgrid interconnect device)

FunctionConnects the home to grid, batteries and PV, switches to backup automatically during an outage, and has a neutral-forming transformer for 120/240 V backup
Generator3G only: an 80 A (64 A continuous) generator port. Usable generator power tops out around 15.36 kW. The generator must be at least 143% of the battery array rating in battery-only systems
Warranty10 years

Warranty

IQ Battery 5P: 15 years or 6,000 discharge cycles from activation, whichever comes first, retaining at least 60% of nameplate capacity. IQ Battery 10C datasheet: up to 15 years or 6,000 cycles at 60% retention, 'restrictions apply'. The product must be sold by Enphase or an authorized reseller and stay at its original location. Register within 45 days (not required in California, Connecticut or states that prohibit it). The system should stay connected to the internet, and claims can be denied if a defect would have been avoided by a firmware update. IQ System Controller 3/3G: 10 years. IQ Combiner, IQ Gateway and Load Controller: 5 years. The US warranty document reviewed is effective for activations on or after Dec 1, 2023.

Altitude

IQ Battery 5P: up to 2,500 m (8,202 ft). IQ Battery 10C: up to 3,000 m (9,842 ft). No derating curve is published. Higher-elevation Colorado mountain towns exceed the 5P rating.

Cold weather

IQ Battery 5P and 10C datasheets: discharging -20 C to 55 C (-4 F to 131 F); charging -20 C to 50 C (-4 F to 122 F); optimum 0 C to 30 C (32 F to 86 F). 10C charging power is reduced below 15 C (59 F). The enclosure is NEMA 3R, rated for rain, sleet, snow and ice. Note: the IQ Battery 5P owner's guide gives a narrower ambient range of -15 C to 55 C (5 F to 131 F).

Monitoring and the app

Enphase App (real-time production, consumption, settings and service messages), through the IQ Gateway over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with a cellular modem. The owner's guide says live status and energy monitoring 'only work when the system has an active internet connection'. Local monitoring during an outage is not clearly documented. Storm Guard watches National Weather Service alerts and charges the batteries to full before a storm.

Recalls
