SolarEdge home batteries in Colorado

SolarEdge's Home Battery 400V has the tightest altitude rating of the major batteries: 6,562 feet. That rules it out for Evergreen, Conifer, Estes Park, and nearly every mountain town. The newer Nexis platform raises the limit to 9,842 feet.

Warranty

Home Battery 400V (North America, revised May 2025): 10 years from the installation date in the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal (or 12 months from shipment), with 70% energy retention at the end. Unlimited cycles for standard solar uses (self-consumption, time-of-use, backup). Third-party management is capped at 26 MWh. The battery must stay connected to an approved SolarEdge inverter and the SolarEdge monitoring platform for the whole period, or the warranty is not honored. Ambient temperature must stay between -4 F and 122 F, and time below 32 F is limited to 30% of days in any rolling 12 months. The warranty is transferable if the unit stays at its original site. Nexis Battery (effective March 19, 2026): 10 years; 70% retention and unlimited throughput for self-consumption, TOU and backup uses (60% and 4.14 MWh/kWh otherwise); continuous monitoring connection required; ambient -30 C to 55 C; battery fans covered 5 years.

Altitude

Home Battery 400V (both the USA Edition and BAT-10K1PS0B-02): up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft). This is below Denver-area foothills and most Colorado mountain towns, so it is a key limitation. Nexis Battery and Nexis Inverter: up to 3,000 m (9,842 ft). Backup Interface: altitude not published.

Cold weather

USA Edition Home Battery: -20 C to 50 C (-4 F to 122 F) ambient. The earlier BAT-10K1PS0B-02 datasheet lists -10 C to 50 C (14 F to 122 F). A separate charging range is not published, and SolarEdge notes that charge/discharge power varies with temperature. The warranty limits time below 32 F to 30% of days per rolling year, which is a real constraint for an unheated outdoor or garage install in Colorado. Nexis Battery: -20 C to 55 C (-4 F to 131 F). Nexis Inverter: -40 C to 60 C. Backup Interface: -40 C to 50 C.

Monitoring and the app

SolarEdge Monitoring Platform / mySolarEdge app, through the inverter over Ethernet, optional Wi-Fi or cellular, and RS485. The warranty requires a continuous monitoring connection. App behavior without internet during an outage is not published.
